Going For A Swim In Antarctica

A hot day like today I dream myself back to 7 January 2014. I believe it was about 8pm and our beautiful ship had anchored in Ronge Island, Antarctica. A few of us decided to go for a swim or I should rather say, a dip. The captain had approved the location and it was a "now or never" moment. A crew member brought us to land in one, out of the two, zodiacs. Gosh, my heart was beating so fast and it was almost possible to see my aggressive heart rate through all my layers of clothing. It was too late to abscond since I was sort of stuck on an island in Antarctica. The moment was ripe, we ran out, threw ourselves into to the water and made sure to dip the whole body, including head and hair, otherwise it wouldn't count. What a thrill, what a kick. I was high. High on life. Once back on the tiny shore my body was pouring out heat and it felt like I had an internal Chinese firework factory running amok. I felt so alive and was about to explode. This is certainly one of the coolest things I have had the privilege to experience so far in my life... Going for a swim in Antarctica. How about that!!
