Sunny Day In BA

Wonderful sunny bright day in Buenos Aires. My first stop today was Cementario de la Recoleta. An area of 14 acres dominated by marble-walled streets and polished facades. Evita's tomb caught a lot of attention and that was the main reason for me to visit the cemetary. Very mastodont and heavy but at the same time a place worthy her legacy.

Afterwards I had a coffee in nearby Café La Biela. A charming old world appeal place where racing car drivers met for their post race drinks, already back in the 1950s. According to the guide book it is a place for wealthy tourists. Thank you very much!

In order feed my fascination about Evita, I continued to her museum in the area of Palermo. Even though I knew about Evita and her political conviction, it never stroke me what an immense impact Evita had on Argentina and its people, and how highly regarded she is. What an astonishing and powerful young lady. It is indeed a shame that she lost her battle to cancer at the early age of 33 years.

A quick change from history/politics to architecture/leisure and I ended up in the very stylish Faena Hotel. Had a glass of Argentinian rosé, wrote diary and digested all my impresisons of the day. Also had a quick peek in the restroom in order to compare it to Dubai. A lovely eventful day. I must admit, with Buenos Aires it was love at first sight. Regarding Sao Paulo, I am still negotiating for a friendship!

  1. Så trevligt med ett besök till Argentina! Tänker själv tillbaka när vi var där och kände igen några av bilderna. Hoppas du hade det riktigt trevligt och att du nu njuter av att vara hemma igen i Brasilien. Borta bra men hemma bäst!
