Tango

My first live tango. Last evening I dined in Café Tortoni. Opened in 1858, Café Tortini is probably the grandest and oldest café in the city. An old hub for intellectuals, such as Jorge Luis Borges, and celebrities. Sitting in a semi-dark basement, drinking wine, sharing a platter of cheese and pork and experiencing tango was fabulous. I could almost smell the 1940s from the walls. The moves, the music, the sensuality. Elegant, dramatic and classy. It was almost as Evita Perón was sitting next to me in her Dior dress and Cartier jewelries.
