Swedish National Day

Modern Sweden was founded on 6 June 1523 and therefore our National Day, logically, happens to be on 6 June. In São Paulo 2014, we celebrated our National Day, yesterday, Sunday 8 June. Here, weekend is better than week day because of unthinkable traffic and World Cup metro strike. 200 people showed up to Igreja Escandinavia. The celebration started with a mass in our beautiful church. I was part of the choir and together we sang three very traditional Swedish summer hymns. We continued with raising the Swedish flag and afterwards we enjoyed a delicious Swedish summer lunch. A truly well organized event with generous sponsors. I just love being a messenger of Swedish traditions and culture abroad.

My Swedish dress was made by an Indian tailor in Dubai. Globalisation!!
