Today I got a gift from my student. A Brazilian Wish Ribbons or Fitas do Senhor do Bonfim da Bahia as they are known in Brazil. It is believed they were created around 1790. You tie the ribbon around your wrist with three knots. After each knot, you make a wish. Once the Wish Ribbon wears out or falls of your wrist on its own, it is believed your three wishes will come true.
