Great News!

After a total of seven years in the Middle East and in the Gulf, together, and as dedicated student of Islamic Studies, my move to Catholic Brazil presented me with a challenge. A challenge representing the lack of an Islamic societal foundation which made my daily life in the Middle East, and the Gulf, very intriguing hence stimulated my intellectual appetite.

In order to maintain and nurture my academic hunger, I contacted Professor Peter Robert Demant, in the history department, at the University of São Paulo (USP). Professor Demant has conducted extensive research about Palestine and Israel and one of his most recent books is: "Islam vs Islamism - The Dilemma of the Muslim World."(You can find the book here.) One evening in July, I joined his postgraduate seminar where the topic of the evening was "Methodology within Islamic Science" The seminar was conducted in Portuguese and I did my best follow.

Yesterday, I was approached by, one of the members of, The Middle East and Muslim World Study Group at USP, asking me to publish a paper about my experience in the United Arab Emirates. My paper will be published in the university electronic bulletin in October.

Needless to say, I´m very grateful and honored!
