Business Lunch


Two weeks ago I had my first Brazilian business lunch. Feijão com arroz (rice with beans) is one of the national dishes here in Brazil and it traces back to the time of slavery. The neat pile next to the rice is manioc, which is an essential shrub in South America. The manioc must be cooked properly to detoxify it before it is eaten. It doesn´t taste much but served everywhere. Wonder what my parents will say when they figure I have a glas of wine, for lunch, in the middle of the week...
